So when users downloaded the file and opened it in Microsoft word a macro inside the document was executed and emailed the list stock file to 50 people listed in the user's email alias file email servers at more than 300 companies and government agencies worldwide became overloaded and some had to be shut down entirely as per the u.s FBI report the estimated cost for cleaning and repairing affected computer systems was 18 million dollars.
